Three generations of the Hoffmeyer family, one shop on Kingston Street, since 1958.

Hoffmeyer Plumbing & Heating Limited was founded on May 2, 1958, and built by three generations of the Hoffmeyer family into the plumbing, heating, and cooling contractor Goderich and Huron County call. From a backed-up drain to a new furnace, a tankless water heater, or a gas fireplace, the work is done by licensed plumbers and gas-certified technicians who live in the community they serve.

In 2023 the company joined the Jayden's Mechanical family. The Hoffmeyer name, the Kingston Street location, and the crews all continue, now backed by a wider Southwestern Ontario group for parts, crews, and depth.

Three generations, one shop

The Hoffmeyer name has been on Kingston Street for more than sixty years. Here is how a plumbing shop founded in 1958 became the Huron County contractor it is today.

1958

Founded as Near & Hoffmeyer by Len Near and Jack Hoffmeyer at 59 Hamilton St in Goderich.

1960s

Jack Hoffmeyer buys out Len Near and moves the shop to Kingston Street.

1971

An Appliance Sales & Service division opens at 58 Kingston St.

1994

Jack retires and his son Doug Hoffmeyer takes the reins, the second generation.

2007

Doug's son Chris Hoffmeyer joins the business, the third generation.

2011

The Goderich tornado damages the building; the shop runs from 317 Huron Rd for about eighteen months before coming home.

2023

Hoffmeyer joins the Jayden's Mechanical family as its Goderich branch.

Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, we are a licensed and insured plumbing, heating, and cooling contractor. (Exact licence and registration numbers and the gas-fitter certification details are to be confirmed and displayed before launch.) We pull permits and arrange inspection on the work that requires it, every time.
Do you offer 24-hour emergency service?
Yes. A burst pipe, a no-heat call, or a sewer backup cannot always wait until morning. Call the 24-hour emergency line and we will get a technician out across Goderich and Huron County, day or night.
Are you gas-certified?
Yes, for both natural gas and liquid propane. We install and service furnaces, boilers, water heaters, fireplaces, and gas lines, and the fuel side is handled by the same licensed crew as the rest of the work.
Do you rent water heaters and equipment?
